It looks like a very unusual combination, but it is genuine, as the on/off switch is in the top edge of the container, by design and not something added later. The container could have housed small things, like paperclips (probably not deep enough for cigarettes, unless small), and may have been used on a desk as decoration. The paintings on tambourine and container are consistent. The tune played, ' Espana Cani ', is a well-known Pasa Doble by Pascual Marquina Narro (1873-1948) and known and played also outside Spain for dancing music.
