The number '170' was taken from an identical item on eBay. Apparently, looking at several, there was just one small label on this item. Exact year could not be established. The 3 records are imprinted with 'F P ', in circles each, so that does confirm Fisher-Price.
By turning the yellow plastic handle on the front side anti-clockwise (only way it will turn) it sets in movement both the rotation of the Merry-Go-Round and the record player. The music mechanism is unusual in that it does not have one cylinder with points but a number of small rings around the cylinder, corresponding with the teeth on the comb, each turning indepently and when hit by a bump on the record, it contacts with the teeth and produces the sound. The record is kept down by the blue plastic bit to press the record against the cylinder. There are 3 records with the player, 2 sides each, but one doubles in song with another, desite being another color, so effectively 4 songs are available, viz. London Bridge, Oh where has my little dog gone, (record numbered '3), Au clair de la lune and Twinkle twinkle little star.(record No '2'). rtecord no 1 missing.
