Salt and Pepper Set on Stand Old Japan - - - - - S O L D - - - - -

- - - - - S O L D - - - - -.

Engraved in bottom Salt and Pepper Shaker:' Dez.Pat. No 97263 Made in Japan'
Engraved in bottom Stand: 'Practical model 29,7574' and 'Dez. Pat. No.106664'.
The key to wind the music is the little japanese girl on the top of the stand.. Turn lower body clockwise; girl rotates with music. To start the music lift either one or both of the shakers.

The music mechanism by Sankyo is an old one, all metal and the cylinder is cut from a roll, not welded together. This points to a fifties or even earlier period.
The quality is described as fair (but good for an item of this age). The metal is weathered somewhat, due to exposion to air (contrary to the one in the collection which was in a box) and the head of the girl serving as winder is glued together with the body (while it should sway on the body, somebody in the past tried to use the head as winder, instead of the body and tore the head off). There is NO box with this item. The item is complete and works well.

This is an old and very unusual item.
