The box has 2 music mechanisms, each in separate compartment (no room for trinkets or jewelry). The one in the back is Reuge Sainte-Croix Switzerland, 19 teeth, cylinder marked ' 5 9 5 3 ', all metal. The one in front is Guessez-Jaccard, Switzerland, 19 teeth, no markings found on cylinder, all metal. It seems unusual that a box originally would have had 2 music mechanisms of different manufacturers. Also, as there is a hole in the side edge in the back, it seems that originally the on/off switch was made for the music to start when the lid was opened. Now each mechanism has a separate on/off with wooden handle in the bottom. That looks to have been done quite professionally. The wooden handle (move left/right) look like the feet, but still a bit different. The label on the bottom mentions as tune 'Ragtime Cowboy Joe. Do not recognize either of the 2 tunes played as such. Also mentioned handwritten on bottom: ' Lady '. Although the top of the lid looks good, there are some chips from sides, quality medium to fair.
