Both monkeys were offered for sale in a fair in Holland. They look alike and seem to belong together. However, one (cymbals) is from Japan and has metal shoes (as is original for japanese items of the sixties) and the other one (drum) has plastic shoes and clearly is a later imitation of the japanese one. The monkey with cymbals was and is working, the other one (drum) was clearly overwound but not broken. On making a remark on the condition to the man selling, he took the item (drum) and wound it further, shattering the spring before my eyes and I was unable top stop him. At least it got me a reduction on the price. But painful to watch such inexperience.
