The red cartridge with the 'film' can be taken out and to disengage push in the lowest blue knob on the left side (see photo's sep. cartridge) The top blue buttons on the left side and red buttons on the right side do not move and have no function. The antenna can be pulled out or in, but has no other function. There is no on/off switch.. Athough the wording on the item says 'recorder', that is not the case. Works good.
